Every gadget is getting smaller these days. Soon, camcorders will be the size of mobiles. Not yet, though.

The closest we have to that benchmark so far is the SDR-S10 from Panasonic. It’s touting a new special widescreen zoom-lens that saves your videos to SD and SDHC cards. It will come with a 2GB SD, and it can support 4GB SDHC’s. The screen is a 2.7-incher, and zoom goes to 10x. You also get shock resistance and impact protection as well as water resistance. You can drop the SDR-S10 up to 1.2 meters without fearing damage. Whether you test that claim in water is up to you.

What really sells this unit is the quick start time, ready to rock and roll just 1.7 seconds after power on.

We know that this camcorder will be released in May. The price is not yet set.
