Over at the Chicago Auto Show this week, Toyota has been pretty busy showing off a bunch of new cars under the Scion banner. The least econobox of the bunch is the newly revitalized 2008 Scion tC coupe. In stark contrast to the xB, the tC still comes with the signature Scion front fascia.
The 2008 Scion tC will come with a lattice lower grille, projector-type low beam headlights, new tail lights with round combination lamps, and a “deep orange combination meter on the instrument panel.” For a little more thump to your jump, they’re also including a Pioneer subwoofer as part of the sound system. It’s also got Apple iPod connectivity standard (displaying track names and so forth on the one-line display).
They’ve ditched Azure Pearl and Black Cherry Pearl from your exterior paint choices, replacing them with Sizzling Crimson Mica and Wave Line Pearl. Yup, red and silver. Under the hood is a 2.4L DOHC four-banger with variable valve timing. Power is quite adequate at 161hp and 162 lbs-ft of torque. And yes, it’s environmentally friendly too as the new tC is a CARB-certified Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (ULEV).
