Simple Sony Ericsson Candybars Are Still Sweet

Sony Ericsson is pretty darn busy today, having held back these past couple of months in terms of new handsets. In addition to the three Walkman phones they already have coming down the chute are these four candybars. The K200, K220, J110, and J120 are clearly targeted at the lower end of the market, and as such, are entry-level phones with entry-level features. You want affordable? You’ve got affordable.

The K200 — to be available in Metallic Black and Light Champagne — rocks a simple VGA camera, enough space to stash up to 40 photos, and a straightforward menu system consisting of a series of single icons. It’ll be available in two dual-band GSM/GPRS variations: 850/1900 and 900/1800. The dual-band (900/1800) K220 is much like the K200, except it adds in an FM radio with RDS. No black or champagne for the K220, however, as you get to select from Frost White and Ocean Blue instead.

Similar things can be said about the even more entry-level J110 and J120, except that these two candybars lack cameras altogether. Instead, they provide “large, legible keys and easy navigation.” At least the J120 has FM radio (but no MP3 player). Available colors for the J110 include Soft Cream, Smooth Grey, and Precious Purple, whereas the J120 will be sold in Night Black only.

All four phones are expected to start shipping in Q2.
