It’s all about being flexible. That is certainly the case with the MiEV, a new vehicle from Mitsubishi. In the proud tradition of acronyms, the company name is part of the package: It’s Mitsubishi innovative electric vehicle.

It’s definitely innovative, in that it’s a flexible fuel vehicle and is able to process for acceleration gas or ethanol or both. A fuel injection optimization system involves oxygen concentration measurements that result in the proper amount of ethanol for the task at hand. All told, the MiEV delivers environmentally friendly fuel injections but also delivers power and performance equal to gas-only vehicles.

It’s definitely on the way for the U.S., although it won’t get there until 2008. It will arrive in Brazil this year.
