It’s a bit of a shame, really, that this new Coby PMP has all the cool toys you want in a handheld music and video player, but its design is somewhat lackluster, and even its name — PMP4330 — leaves much to be desired. It’s not the most impressive player out there, but it’ll suit the average consumer just fine with its 4.3-inch widescreen TFT LCD True-Color display, 30GB hard drive, SDMMC card slot “for additional data transfer and storage”, and compatibility with a wide range of audio and video formats.

When you get tired of your own collection of multimedia, the Coby PMP4330 will also let you listen to FM radio via its integrated tuner, as well as let you record said broadcasts onto its hard drive. The same can be said about the integrated microphone for voice recording, and you can play it all back via the on-board “high-output” stereo speakers. Naturally, it’s got USB 2.0 for connectivity, including Plug and Play support for both Windows and Macs. Nothing spectacular, but it’ll do the job. If Coby prices it right and perhaps tosses in a couple bells and whistles (either function or fashion-wise), they just might have themselves a winner here.
