This is a certain form of urban transport that deserves special mention in some circles, even though it sounds like something out of a comic book. It’s the Thrustpac, and it can give you quite a bit of get-up-and-go just when you need it.

You can strap this device on your back and have it push you along no matter what kind of device you’re on—bike, roller skates, canoe, skis, scooter, and even wheelchair.

In case you’re wondering, the Thrustpac does run on gasoline, although it doesn’t consume a whole lot. It slurps up less than one once a mile, but you might not want to run through a whole tank because the fumes might be a bit much.

The Thrustpac comes in a variety of power potentials, ranging from 8 to 20 pounds of thrust. Prices start at US$895 and go up to US$2,000.
