Sony bumps Memory Stick PRO Duo to 8GB, includes price

Whether you’ve got yourself a Sony PSP or a Sony Ericsson cell phone, we’ve got some massive news for you. Massive in the sense that you will soon be able to get a Memory Stick PRO Duo in an 8GB flavor. The electronics giants was showing off these tiny-yet-huge cards at CES in Las Vegas, telling everyone around them that they’d start shipping next month.

Of course, most devices on the market today won’t be able to recognize a card this size, so you may need to do some firmware upgrading to use it to its fullest (or at all). We do know that PSPs need to be on firmware 2.81 or above. That said, all that storage won’t come cheap: the 8GB Memory Stick PRO Duo will retail for $300.
