I’m still not exactly sure how this works, but it has been confirmed that the Wild Charge wireless charging system actually works. Just place your cell phone, MP3 player, or whatever other portable electronic device on the solar panel-looking thing and it’ll top up the battery for you. Neat-o.

The current offering will only be able to handle smaller devices like PSPs and iPods, but a little further down the line, they plan on releasing larger, more powerful versions that’ll juice up laptops.

The explanation that Gizmodo gives is still a little cryptic: “It uses non-inductive technology to pass the current from strip to device without all that falderal you usually have to go through to charge it.” But there it is, and yes it works.
