Lusting over cool electronics that they release in Japan is one thing, but to actually have a chance to grope those devices yourself, that’s a different matter altogether. For anyone that’s been itching to get their hands on some Sony UMPC goodness, your prayers have been answered as the Flash-tastic Vaio UX UMPC is heading to North America.
With an estimated retail price of $2,500, this is no cheap endeavor. That said, you get to enjoy a full 32 gigs of solid state memory (instead of a spinning drive), and this UMPC — dubbed the UX Premium Micro PC — is quite the slick-looking number too. They’ve encased it entirely in black with a brilliant blue-backlit QWERTY keyboard.
Behind the scenes, you’ll also find a 1.33GHz ultra-low voltage Intel Core Solo U1500 processor, 1GB of 400MHz DDR2 SDRAM, 802.11a/b/g WiFi, Bluetooth, GSM/GPRS/EDGE, dual cameras (1.3 megapixel on the back, VGA on the front), and a 4.5-inch touchscreen.
Ready to ship for February.
