CES 2007: Canon unveils army of ultra-zooming widescreen camcorders

You’ve got to hand it to the folks at Canon. When they announce something, they announce a lot. Case in point: today, we’ve got no fewer than six camcorders from Canon for you to gawk at.

If you enjoy recording directly onto DVD disks, they have the DC230, DC220, and DC210. They come with impressive 35x optical zoom, 16:9 widescreen support, and up to 1000x digital zoom. They’re not exactly professional grade, but they are said to be “sophisticated yet simple to use.” They’ll all ship in March, with prices ranging from $399 to $499.

For those who prefer the Mini DV format, Canon as the equivalently-equipped ZR850, ZR830, and ZR800. They too sport widescreen LCDs and 35x optical zoom, with prices ranging from $279 to $329.
