Verizon seems to really like slide-out keyboards for their smartphones. We’ve already come across their take on the Samsung BlackJack, and now they’re off to the races with their rendition of the HTC TyTn. The UTStarcom VX6800 improves on the HTC Hermes that preceded it, tossing in quite the powerful punch.

Running on Windows Mobile 5 AKU3, the UTStarcom VX6800 features a sliding QWERTY keybaord, huge color screen, 256MB ROM, 96MB ROM, thumb wheel, microSD expansion, Bluetooth 2.0, the top two flavors of WiFi, and a more than adequate 2 megapixel camera. Best of it, it’ll play nice with EV-DO Rev.A.

When and how much is still up in the air.
