You know, if SDHC cards were backwards compatible with devices that taken the old SD format, I’d probably be more interested, but if you happen to be one of the folks that actually has a machine that’ll swallow the SDHC format, you now have an eight gigabyte option from the good people at Ultra. Its write speed — 3MB/s — isn’t quite as the fast as what you can get from Sandisk’s Ultra II SDHC high performance cards (9MB/s), but the read speed on these cards (18MB/s) makes up for it.

And let’s not forget that this card, while providing double the capacity, is a full $70 cheaper than the Sandisk offering. Look for the Ultra 8GB SDHC card at a retailer near you any day now.
