I don’t have a single corded phone in my house anymore, so why should the Skype experience be any different? Asus has just unveiled their new wireless Skype phone, the AiGuru S1, and it comes with the nifty ability to remotely control Windows Media Player on your computer, blasting out those DRM tunes through the mobile handset itself — Check out that speaker on the back: it should be plenty loud.

Yes, you read that right. It’s not a standalone VoIP phone, unfortunately, and must be (wirelessly) tethered to an adequately-powered, Skype-running PC (at least Windows XP/2000, 1GHz processor, 256MB RAM, 40MB free HDD space, internet connection of at least 33.6Kbps, etc). The 128×64 dot matrix display is backlit in a brilliant blue, the AiGuru S1 supports a number of languages, and you’ll get as much as 100 meters of operating range (assuming no obstacles whatsoever, otherwise it’s more like 30 meters).

No word on price.
