Verizon helps domestic violence victims via cell phones

Maybe it’s because of the holiday season that Verizon Wireless is in a giving mood, but whatever the reason, the service provider has donated 25 cell phones to Jersey Battered Women’s Services. And they provided free airtime too.

Naturally, they didn’t provide the women with a spiffy new enV or even a Chocolate Phone. Instead, they’re donating “no-longer-used” (read: refurbished) wireless phones that were collected at their kiosks.

With these cell phones, victims who are still at risk have an immediate way of contacting the proper authorities should another emergency arise. Verizon Wireless also provides help through their HopeLine.
