Grr, rugged. Go ahead, Apple fanboys, lust after your glossy white laptop and your glossy white music player. NEC wants to play it rough, and they’re prepared for whatever Mother Nature throws their way. The newly unveiled NEC ShieldPRO is one of the toughest Tablet PCs you will ever encounter, easily surviving (and operating in) temperatures as low as 20 below and as high as plus 50.

Extreme temperatures aren’t the only thing that this tough-enough-for-007 Tablet PC can handle. Drop it from as much as 90cm without any harm done. Through water, sand, dust… you name it, it’ll take it. No fear of life’s obstacles here.

Oh, if you must know about that technical mumbo jumbo, the ShieldPRO is rocking a 1.2GHz Core Solo U1400, 256MB RAM, 60GB HDD, and 12-inch XGA display. Don’t call it weak, ’cause it might turn around and beat you up.
