Samsung touts tiny fuel cell charger

Small is big, according to Samsung. The company and its technological institute have announced a claim to the world’s smallest fuel cell mobile charger. At just 5mm thick, it weighs 5.3 ounces.

Powering this tiny charging unit are methanol cartridges that you can easily replace. The eventual goal is for you to be able to charge your mobile while you’re using it.

Samsung is still tinkering, ironing out the kinks. Expect to see this kind of device soon but not overnight.

Check out the picture, though: Even at that tiny size, still it’s larger than you might want it to be if it’s hooked up to your mobile phone or PDA. So maybe charge it and then go? Either way, this could well be the future of charging (unless it’s wireless.)
