Here’s a convergence device that goes about things in a completely opposite direction. Whereas cell phones are starting to intrude on the camera and MP3 player markets, the Median MX-400M media player pulls double duty as a Skype phone.

This is a catch, of course, and it’s that you have to connect the MX-400M to a PC (via the integrated slide-out USB connector) in order to get your VoIP on. It would have been nice to include built-in WiFi, but that would surely increase the price as well.

The rest of the stuff you should know read as so: MMC/SD expansion slot, 262k color display, FM radio, text viewer, and SRS WOW effects.

The 1GB and 2GB variations of the Median MX-400M will start selling in Korea next week for $140 and $160, respectively.
