Philips PET830 plants a DivX DVD player in tablet form

I can see how this would be handy for watching your favorite cooking tutorial while in the kitchen, as it is quite the modern-looking device. Philips has just revealed the PET830 Tablet DVD player, complete with a prop-up stand in the back so you can have the handsfree movie-watching experience you deserve.

Not only will it play standard issue DVDs, but it will very happily decode and display DivX and MPEG4 videos, as well as shoot out MP3 and WMA-powered tunes. I can’t see it being a very good idea for travelling though, as there is no visible screen cover.

No word on pricing.
