Sony Ericsson flips out with W44S dual-hinged phone

Nokia and Samsung aren’t the only folks who know how to make a clamshell flip both ways. Sony Ericsson is adding its name to the dual-hinged party with the W44S multimedia phone. The vibrant QVGA display can be oriented either in portrait or landscape mode, but you’ll probably want to opt for the latter when you make use of the integrated video player or 1Seg TV tuner.

There’s 115MB of internal memory, most likely expandable by some variation of the Memory Stick. Like many of its direct competitors, the W44S also boasts a 3.2 megapixel camera with video recording capabilities. While all this functionality sounds awfully tasty, I’m not much of a fan of that unsightly bulge on the right side. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose.
