Although I enjoy it when companies implement more and more technology into smaller and smaller packages, I’m always a little wary about potential problems these innovations may have. General Motors is taking key fobs to the next level, packing in a simple LCD that will show off your tire pressure, fuel level, odometer, and a bevy of other useful information.

The backlit LCD (kind of reminds me of Timex Indiglo watches) ensures that you can still see what’s going on, even at night. You can even preset your radio stations and confirm the doors are locked, right on the key fob. The optional system — available with various full size SUVs — adds a $150 premium to the vehicle price.

Sounds sort of like CompuStar 2-way alarms to me, except the focus is on convenience, rather than security.
