Emirates Air to allow in-flight cell calls

Emirates Air is embracing in-flight mobile phone calls, no doubt to the applause of some people and the consternation of many more.

The airline has entered into a partnership with Aeromobile, which will set rates and also offer 777 service. Those rates are supposed to be expensive yet less than what you would pay to use the onboard satellite phones found on many planes.

Apparently, as well, the pilots and cabin crew can control access to mobile signals, enabling passengers to sleep through the night without having to listen to their neighbors’ yakking (on the phone, anyway).
