Here’s a first. A cell phone maker that actually encourages you to hack their products. This is exactly the case with the FIC-GTA001 Linux-based smartphone. This is FIC’s freshman foray into GSM smartphones, and it seems to be quite the formidable package. The 2.8-inch VGA display is a touchscreen, boasting “multi-touch gesture recognition.” Other key features include GPS, “iPod-quality MP3 player”, Samsung S3C2410 ARM9-based processor, 128MB RAM, and 64MB Flash ROM.

Maybe they’re just a little lazy in the apps department, because they are including SDK out of the box to get adopters to develop “new and improved applications for the limitless device.” Open source goodness. No word on price or availability.
