One of the biggest appeals to owning a notebook computer is its portability. This take-anywhere functionality is hugely valuable. Well, it’s not going to get much more portable than the Sony VAIO G. Tipping the scales at just 1.98 pounds, this 12.1-inch laptop can literally go everywhere you do.

As expected with such a lightweight unit, the VAIO G is no graphical powerhouse. Under the hood, you’ll find an Intel Core Solo U1300 or U1400, up to 1.5GB of DDR2 RAM, 80GB HDD, and a DVD burner. It’s got you covered in the WiFi department, in addition to its pair of USB 2.0 ports and biometric fingerprint reader. The price isn’t all that light, however, at US$1,836. Look for it in Japan next month (hopefully without a battery recall the following month).
