Honda goes drifting with Element-D

It used to be that drag racing was the thing to do. A whole new trend has been emerging these past few years, though, that focuses not so much on actual speed as it does style and control. When you think about “drift cars”, you probably envision rear-wheel-drive Mazdas and Nissans, but it seems that Honda wants to make an entry too with the Element-D drift car. The pseudo-SUV is seen in most people’s eyes as a city-based peoplemover, but Honda has tweaked this version just a touch, tossing in a longitudinally-mounted 3.2L V6 and RWD drivetrain (the car comes stock as a 4WD). What results is a “lightweight twin-turbocharged powerhouse” that slides sideways with its 500hp. Things are a changing…
