In the market for a lappy? While other manufacturers may try to capture your attention with a more powerful processor, biometric security, or a flashy-looking shell, Everex is taking a different approach. They’re claiming that the StepNote NC1500 is the “world’s most energy efficient” notebook, needing only a 3-cell lithium-ion battery to power the little bugger. Too bad that anemic battery only gives you 90 minutes of juice. Yes, 90 minutes.

If you’re willing to stay tethered to a wall outlet, you’ll be able to enjoy the 15.4-inch WXGA display, 1.5GHz Via C7-M processor, 512MB of DDR2-533 RAM, 40GB HDD, integrated graphics, dual-layer DVD burner, and 802.11b/g WiFi all for under $500. A little weaksauce? Just a touch.
