Gizmodo got their hands on this incredibly tiny cell phone, and while they admit it is one gorgeous piece of machinery, it comes up awfully short in terms of functionality. In fact, they say that they can only recommend the Haier Black Pearl as a secondary phone.

The full color display, while pretty incredible to behold as it emerges from behind the glossy black case, is very, very dim, making it nearly impossible to make out in any of kind of sunlight whatsoever. The earpiece is weak, the mic picks up plenty of wind, and the user interface is “confusing and not well designed.” So, yeah, the Black Pearl is just another pretty face… without too much in the brains department.
