Okay, try to follow me as I bust out a whole series of acronyms. NEC LCD Technologies has developed four new SOG (system-on-glass) TFT LCDs, each of which feature VGA (640 x 480) resolution. The display modules are touted as LTPS (low temperature poly-silicon), and are designed for use with portable devices like PDAs and handheld GPS units. They boast things like high contrast ratios, high luminance, wide color gamuts, and super-high densities. NEC will be manufacturing transmissive and transflective types, both of which will be available in 3.5-inch and 2.7-inch sizes. The plan calls for production to start in February.
