It’s been a while since I’ve seen a device with a rotary dial, so imagine my surprise when I stumbled across this cute new portable media player from NEC. The VOTOL PK-MV300 doesn’t have a lot of buttons — they’ve kept things very minimalist here — but the design is quite attractive. Competing in much the same market as the iPod Video and Microsoft Zune, this PMP packs a 30GB hard drive to go with its 2.7-inch QVGA LCD. You can even expand the memory with SD cards.

Media support is plentiful, including pictures (JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP), music (MP3, WMA, WAV, OGG, AAC), and video (MPEG-2/4, ASP, WMV). It will even show the stuff protected by DRM10. No word on pricing, but don’t expect this on our shores anytime soon anyways.
