They say that there’s no such thing as a free lunch, but it seems the same is true when it comes to MP3 players too. McDonalds Japan gave away 10,000 DAPs as part of some promotion; however, all of those players were unwittingly infected with some very dangerous malware. QQpass is the culprit, and apparently as soon as the McDonalds-branded MP3 player is connected to your computer, it immediately goes to work logging (and transmitting) usernames, passwords, and all your other private information. Scary stuff. The burger maker has apologized and set up a helpline, but I fear it could be too little, too late for those 10,000 poor folks.
