Confirmed: Renault working on entry-level roadster

This has been a long time coming, but it has finally been confirmed by the French automaker that they are working on a sub £20,000 roadster that is scheduled to hit the market by 2010. The picture provided is that of the Renault Sport Spider from about 10 years ago, so I’m sure the new one will receive some renewed styling cues (and maybe a roof?) to keep up with the times. With a price like that, though, the new-gen Spider should be in good shape to compete against the giant in the el cheapo roadster market, the Mazda Miata MX-5. A new halo car, perhaps?
