Access bought PalmSource, makers of the sometime popular Palm OS, nearly one year ago and only now have they decided to fully absorb the PalmSource namesake: They plan on re-branding the next generation of operating systems under the Access banner. PalmSource should not to be confused with Palm, creators of the actual PDAs and smartphones, as the latter is owned by 3Com.

Access will continue to sell the Palm OS (at least for now), but they are supposed to be working on a new OS, the Access Linux Platform. Let’s just say that Access and 3Com aren’t exactly the best of friends right now.
