It’s not exactly the same size as a Timex, but it packs in a whole lot more functionality than just a chronometer. GlobalSat’s GH-601/602 wearable GPS receiver is designed for use with outdoor exercise, mountain climbing, and so on. Showcased at Taitronics Autumn 2006, this colorful device — available in yellow or green — features the latest SiRF Star III GPS chipset, a “high accuracy” barometric altimeter, and an electronic compass. The “large” LCD is a monochromatic wonder, but that should extend the life of the built-in lithium-ion battery. Naturally, as it is designed with rugged use in mind, the GH-601/602 is waterproof.
