Skype and the Cloud are getting together for VoIP across Europe. The result is not exactly a free call.

You will have to buy a SMC Networks Skype-enabled phone, and you’ll have to pay for access to the Cloud’s Wi-Fi network (about US$13 a month). Still, for many, that’s a small price to pay compared to standard or roaming cell phone charges.

The Cloud has more than 8,500 hotspots in hotels, airports, and retail stores across the continent and has plans to expand into outdoor locations in the U.K.
