In an effort to improve awareness of the potentially devastating effects of drinking and driving, Toyota is planning to introduce a simulator that mimics the effects of alcohol impairment on a driver.

Specifically, users will wear goggles that approximate the reduced efficacy that being drunk brings to the driving experience. The simulator will be available at Toyota’s safety training center at Fuji Speedway in Shizuoka. Private or business clients will be able to use it.

The simulator is part of an overall effort by the automaker to reduce auto accidents caused by alcohol-impaired drivers.
