Hitachi loads up HD vids on Blu-ray camcorder

What’s that? The 30 gigabyte hard drive on your digital camcorder just isn’t enough room for your long ass family vacation? What if I told you that you could record directly on massive Blu-ray discs with Hitachi’s hot little number, unveiled at that cool as cool can be CEATEC trade show in Japan. The design is certainly a little unconventional, with a more “cannon-like” approach, but given that you’ll be able to enjoy glorious high-def recordings and stash them on discs as big as 200 gigs, I wouldn’t complain. Too bad it’s still a prototype.
