It wasn’t that long ago that in-vehicle navigation and live video systems were brand new and very rare. The growth has been very rapid, though. The Consumer Electronics Association predicts that sales of the systems will reach $1.1 billion this year, up from $951 million last year. That’s an impressive amount since satellite based systems cost about $3,000 and can’t fit on vehicles smaller than an SUV. Obviously it is expected that increases in demand and advances in research will drive the prices down.
