Next up for Mercedes: a crossover coupe?

A segment on the rise is that of the “Sport Activity Coupe”, a vehicle which is designed to have the speedy appeal of a sports coupe, while offering the practicality of an SUV. Could Mercedes be the next German automaker to offer this type of car? After all, Daimler Chrysler has just filed to trademark the letters “GLC” in Germany, and a “C” in Mercedes language usually indicates a coupe. In this way, the GLC would fit into the same range as the BMW X6 crossover-coupe, Audi Q6, and Volkswagen Concept A (pictured). Would yet another model dilute the Mercedes branding a little too much? Maybe.
