Toyota Eco Drive Indicator improves fuel efficiency

Drivers of some Toyota vehicles in Japan will now be able to decrease the environmental impact of their driving thanks to the Eco Drive Indicator. It’s a dash-mounted display that will tell drivers when they are minimizing environmental impact by monitoring the speed of the car, the acceleration, and the efficiency of the engine and the transmission. In testing, cars with the Eco Drive Indicator showed 4% better fuel efficiency simply because of the driver’s increased awareness. It will only be available in cars with automatic transmissions.
