The styling isn’t particularly inspiring, but the concept certainly is. The Qashqai (”Kash-kai”) is the first vehicle to be built on the Nissan-Renault Alliance “C” platform, and while it has the styling of a compact SUV (a la Toyota RAV4), it is said to be about the same size as a Ford Focus.
Designed almost entirely by Nissan Europe, the Qashqai is designed to be an “urban nomad” complete with your choice of either two- or four-wheel drive, your choice of gas or diesel engines, and a design that is “agile yet sturdy, elegant yet practical.” This Nissan is going into production at their UK plants later this year, and if everything pans out, we should be expecting a North American variant in due time.
