Zinc Matrix Power has used the Intel Developers forum to show off their latest power technology – rechargeable silver-zinc batteries. The company hopes that the new tech will replace lithium ions because of its advantages – it is safer than Li-ion technology (meaning it doesn’t spontaneously combust as much, I guess), it provides more life from a similar battery, and it is easier and safer to reuse or recycle once the battery is done. Zinc Matrix Power plans to hand their batteries to developers for testing and evaluation by early next year.
