Have you got dual-core yet? Enjoying it? Quad-core is on its way, but Intel is showing off what the future could look like. They have produced an 80-core chip which is the world’s first programmable microprocessor with teraflop performance capabilities. The cores use a mesh configuration to link together. Each core can stop the clock at 3.1 GHz, and each has 20MB of SRAM. Don’t get too exited, though – this is just a proof of concept and is likely at least five years from production.
