Did you think Virgin Atlantic was overreacting just a little when they banned all laptops with Sony batteries on their flights? Thankfully, the company has come to its senses and got its fear under control. They still have a ban on batteries which may actually ignite, which makes sense, but batteries which do not come from one of the flammable batches are allowed to be used.

Though this will be a relief for passengers who were banned from using their machines for no good reason, you still have to wonder if they can check the batteries fast enough to avoid long lineups, especially if there are a lot of business travelers on a flight. What the airline industry really needs is more lineups.
