There are already a lot of Prius hybrids on the road, but Toyota wants there to be a whole bunch more.

The company is planning to increase the production of the cars in Japan by 50% in 2007. Most of the hybrid vehicles are made in Japan. That boost in production would mean that 300,000 new cars would hit the roads next year. Though there are reports that the economics of the cars still aren’t great for Toyota, it makes sense that they would boost production since they have a goal of selling 1 million per year by early next decade.
