A group of major players in the mobile phone industry have agreed to be kinder to the environment. The group will reduce the pollution created during the manufacture and disposal of phones. They’ll do this by reducing energy consumption, stopping the use of hazardous materials, collecting more phones from users through trade-ins and recycling, and giving customers more information about the environmental impact of their phones.

The group is made up of companies including Motorola, Nokia, Panasonic, France Telecom, TeliaSonera and Intel. They are also working in partnership with the European Commission. A nice change to what other manufacturers are doing to the environment.
