The State of California is serious about fighting global warming. Their Attorney General has sued the six largest American and Japanese car manufacturers, claiming that the carbon dioxide emissions the cars they make spit out are damaging California’s environment and the health of its citizens. The State argues that the makers have violated public nuisance laws, and they are seeking damages totaling millions of dollars. California, like they often are, is the first to take this fairly aggressive course of action, but they are encouraging other states to join them.
