29% of employees steal data when they leave a job

Portable devices with large amounts of memory make it easier than ever for employees to steal data from their companies. So much so, in fact, that 29% of 1,385 businesspeople surveyed admitted to taking confidential corporate information with them when they went to a new job. 24% of the stolen data was removed using MP3 players or memory sticks or cards, while 18% of the thieves used the company’s own e-mail system to lift the data.
