Disney sells 125,000 movies on iTunes in first week

It might seem odd that iTunes is only selling movies from Disney, but buyers don’t seem to mind. Disney has reported that they had already sold 125,000 movies by Tuesday, and that they had generated more than $1 million in revenue. The studios that didn’t want to sign on to iTunes, can surely take a second look now.

Disney is currently offering 75 different titles on the iTunes store, and they anticipate seeing $50 million in revenue from the movie selling venture in the first year.

Many analysts predict that the early and continuing success of the movie venture could attract more studios to participate, just like the success of selling ABC TV shows when they were initially offered led other networks to participate.
