GM and Ford discussing merger?

GM and Ford are both in pretty disastrous situations these days, so it might just make sense for the two to combine their fading resources. Rumors are flying that executives within both companies have been meeting to discuss an alliance or even a merger. The talks began in July and the CFOs of the two companies met to discuss a merger in August. It seems like a huge longshot, but both companies need each other to survive and prosper pretty badly, so there are stranger things that could happen. They need to do something.
