Nokia and Yahoo have gotten together for some mobile phone cross-promotion. The Finnish phone maker and the California Web portal giant have announced a partnership by which Yahoo Search is even more the prime method of Internet search on a large number of Nokia phones.
Specifically, the Nseries multimedia computers and other Nokia S60 devices are the ones sporting the fruits of this expanding partnership. The Yahoo Search functions are deeply integrated into other functions of these devices as well, including the presentation of search results in more than 10 languages. In many cases, the search functions are available directly from the phones’ main menu screen.
Nokia Mobile Search, powered by Yahoo Search, enables users to search for all manner of information, including local restaurant and traffic and weather information, as well as traditional Web-based searches, for things like ringtones and MP3s.
This latest announcement is an update of a partnership that began last April and has evolved into greater and greater symmetry between the goals and ideals of both companies.
