Uniden is jumping into the portable GPS game with what they call the Uniden MapTrax.
This won’t be a single device, but rather a complete line of navigational solutions. Uniden wants them to be user friendly, shoving in 3.5- to 7-inch touchscreens and text-to-speech navigation. Accuracy is being touted as within 3 metres, and there will be 2GB of memory (preloaded with North America maps). You’ll also get Bluetooth and screens that automatically adjust to lighting conditions.
No word on a pricing range, but we’re expecting the first of the Uniden MapTrax devices to hit shelves before year’s end, with more following next year.
